Swaffham Prior Energy Centre and North Angle Solar Farm Sites Awarded TopSite!

Bouygues Energies & Services has been awarded ‘TopSite’ for our Swaffham Prior Energy Centre and North Angle Solar Farm in Cambridge. This accolade is testament to the fantastic work we are undertaking to deliver an innovative renewable heat network solution paralleled with a large-scale solar farm in partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council.

TopSite is a global Bouygues Construction CSR accreditation designed to recognise best-in-class construction sites. As the first UK sites within the Bouygues group to achieve this recognition, we had to meet a set criterion comprising Health and Safety, Environment, Quality, Society and Social Value, with the aim of ensuring and displaying an optimal standard of operational performance. To date, around 100 Bouygues Construction sites have received the award globally.

As part of the evaluation process, over the past six months, the North Angle Solar Farm and Swaffham Prior Energy Centre sites have been assessed, in line with the TopSite criterion, with a key focus on the implementation of unique innovations and best practices.

During the assessment period, a range of innovations were introduced on-site to meet and excel on this requirement, including drone surveys, advanced snag tracking, a battery hybrid genset, composite CCTV structures and a trained site-based Mental Health First Aider, to name but a few.

Subsequently, with the client’s stamp of approval, it was confirmed that North Angle Solar Farm had achieved the TopSite label and Swaffham Prior Energy Centre the TopSite ‘Innovation’ label, in acknowledgement of the site team’s outstanding commitment to innovation.

Matthew Cole, Project Manager at the Swaffham Prior Energy Centre site, said: “Achieving this accreditation has been a great acknowledgement of not only the innovations we’ve successfully implemented to help transform and optimise the way we work, but also the commitment the on-site team has to continuous development and improvement.”

Karl Staines, Project Manager at North Angle Solar Farm, added: “We are very proud to have received this recognition. Ensuring we carry out our work as effectively and proficiently as possible is of the utmost importance with health, safety and quality at the centre of everything we do.”

To celebrate this fantastic accomplishment and commend phenomenal efforts from Bouygues E&S’ project managers and site teams, flag-raising ceremonies were held at both sites recently.

Gregory Allouis, Energy Solutions Director, concluded: “I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate the site teams for this achievement. As a business, we remain steadfast in embedding our values within our day-to-day activities. These TopSite awards are evidence of just that and the success of our site teams’ collaborative efforts to ensure best-in-class delivery throughout the projects’ life cycle."
