Equality & Diversity

Bouygues Energies & Services values the variety and innovation that our diverse workforce brings. Our pledge is a diverse and inclusive workplace which offers fair treatment at work and a culture of mutual respect and dignity between colleagues.

We do not discriminate (or tolerate discrimination) because of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race (which includes colour, nationality and ethnic or national origins), religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation, or the membership or non-membership of a trade union. Our culture is one that values meritocracy, openness, fairness and transparency.

All employees have a right to work in an environment in which the dignity of individuals is respected and which is free from harassment and bullying. We are committed to eliminating intimidation in any form.

We already have a diverse workforce with 36% of our team being female and 33% of our team coming from minority ethnic backgrounds. Although this is better than average for a company with a strong engineering bias we are not satisfied yet. We recognise that a policy for equal opportunity does not, of itself, guarantee a diverse workforce or equality of outcome. As such, we are taking positive actions to ensure that workforce diversity and inclusiveness is championed and objectives are met.

We have established links with external organisations such as the Business Disability Forum and the ‘Think, Act, Report’ campaign on gender equality in order to improve our awareness and focus in these areas. We have also created a support network for female employees known as ‘WeLink’ in common with other parts of Bouygues Construction.

In addition, our volunteering programme, known as ‘Better Lives’, is aimed at widening our community engagement with under-represented groups. We will continue to develop these relationships and to consult with our employee networks on promoting diversity and inclusion.
