We are thrilled to announce that four brilliant team members have been chosen as finalists for the prestigious Women in Construction and Engineering Awards (WICE).

The WICE Awards have been designed to find the most exemplary women working across construction and engineering. Their aim is to make the construction and engineering industries more enticing to women by showcasing the diverse range of careers in these sectors while encouraging companies to employ and develop more women in these industries. They hope to create role models for women considering a career in these sectors and encourage companies to employ and train more women.

The construction sector plays an important role in economic growth however the sector remains male-dominated with women only representing 11% of the UK construction workforce and only 9% in engineering within the UK. We are working hard to improve these percentages.

The WICE awards are are a special opportunity for our nominees to attend and be evaluated by an expert panel of judges on the basis of outstanding achievement and contributions to their fields.

Congratulations to all four nominees and good luck for the final event!

Our team members have been nominated for the following awards:

Catriona Cassidy WICE Finalist

‘I am really excited and especially honored to have been selected as a finalist in the “Best Woman in Digital Innovation'' category for the WICE awards. It is such a great category to be nominated for as I think it really is the future of the construction and engineering industry. I see so many incredible digital innovations improving the way we work on projects, with our stakeholders, and deliver services to clients. I think the key reason I was selected is for my work on our Open Innovation programme with start-ups/scale-ups to work collaboratively with our innovation ecosystem. We are driven by our clients' needs and we are open to finding and integrating the right digital innovations wherever they are.' Catriona Cassidy, Digital Innovation Project Manager

JS WICE Finalist

'I was delighted to be nominated for Best Woman in Project Management and to then find out I am in the final 10 is amazing.  Working for the NHS on behalf of Bouygues is very challenging at the moment due to the unprecedented time we are in, and this brightened up my day.  I am really looking forward to the experience this will bring'.  Jennifer Saxton, Patient Catering Manager

June WICE Finalist

'I was delighted to have been nominated and even more delighted to have been shortlisted for the award of Female Mentor of the Year! I have supported a number of different individuals and teams in my career in HR across different organisations.  The most challenging and rewarding experiences have been in the last couple of years during which I have been the HR lead on a contract which provides facilities management services to a large NHS hospital.  One of the project managers responsible for the contract mobilisation decided to take on a change of career direction and joined us as our General Manager on the contract and she and I have worked closely in her transition to this key leadership role. These strong relationships and the continuation of my support in mentoring our managers and teams is even more pertinent as we work with the NHS in response to the current pandemic.' June Fernandez-Lewis, HR Business Partner

Hortense WICE Finalist

'Being part of the WICE recognition is a privilege and I feel truly blessed in the idea of meeting so many wonderful women who are influencing on a daily basis our industry. I always had a passion for the construction industry and I take joy to be an actor of a community who welcome women to find their place in any position available.' Hortense Colin, Project Manager
