Supporting Our Team
Developing our people has always been at the heart of our success. To meet our ambitions in an ever changing world, it’s our people that make the difference. Our commitment is demonstrated both financially (with more than 2% of payroll spent on Learning & Development) and through the support of our leadership team, who regularly attend training events.
The learning and development team support our workforce to achieve individual, team and organisational goals. Development activities are delivered through a combination of formal training, learning from others and workplace/experiential learning.
The Bouygues Energies & Services competency framework outlines the core behaviours, skills and attributes we seek to develop in our people. Bouygues Energies & Services staff have access to a range of initiatives to support competency development, including on-the-job training, job rotation, shadowing, setting stretch targets, coaching, being a mentor or mentee, 360 reviews, webinars, seminars, networking opportunities, digital content as well as more formal classroom-based courses.
We foster collaboration through the use of community networking platforms such as Yammer, and encourage the sharing of best-practice through workshops, toolbox talks and internal webinars. In addition we are strong advocates of digital learning to ensure the knowledge is available at your fingertips. We offer popular training courses via e-learning through our BYle@rn platform such as learning French, as well as access to video content online through external platforms such as Lynda.com
We work closely with our international partners to collaborate on large-scale projects which support BYES 2020, our ambitious strategic plan. To date we have over 100 ongoing projects worldwide, proposed by our own staff and supported by local Community Managers. Allowing our people the autonomy to engage with projects close to their heart helps to foster a sense of belonging and collective ownership.
Bouygues Energies & Services offer a wide range of training courses, delivered through our international and local training centres. We leverage both internal expertise and external training specialists to build innovative, cutting edge programmes.
This lead to Bouygues Energies & Services being awarded the silver award for ‘People Development Programme of the Year’ at the 2017 Learning Awards. We focus strongly on developing our leaders and managers, empowering them to harness and nurture the talents of our staff, at all levels. We recently launched our ‘Core Management Academy’ which supports managers across all aspects of people development, and drills down the practical aspects of being a manager.
We have an established talent identification process which is leveraged to identify succession plans for our key employees. The Learning & Development team work across the business to support managers to network, challenge and develop the best and the brightest from our talent pool. Members of our ‘High Potential’ group have access to a range of development opportunities, including ‘Building your Leadership Signature’ in the UK and World Club, Ulysses and Marco Polo courses, delivered in partnership with the wider Bouygues Construction Group.
Bouygues Energies & Services works in conjunction with a number of professional bodies, including BIFM, IET, IMECHE, CIPS, CIMA, ACCA and ILM. We actively encourage our staff to engage in Continuing Professional Development opportunities and gain professional accreditation.
