Bouygues Energies & Services have been awarded Gold by Payroll Giving.

In 2019, Bouygues Energies & Services an engineering company raised a total of £8000 for payroll giving. Now, they have gone and topped that with an incredible £12,000 raised in 2021.

As a company giving back to their local community and supporting charities is of high importance. They have a presence across the UK on cleanroom, data centre and pharmaceutical project sites. Across those sites and head office, their team are encouraged to support their local community, whether it’s volunteering or charitable donations along with supporting national charities.

“As a global organisation, it’s our responsibility to give back. We know the positive impact we can have. Therefore, we have several charity and volunteering schemes in place. Payroll Giving is one of those schemes.” Said Emma Gould, Head of HR

Payroll Giving, allows employees to give a percentage of their salary towards a charity of their choice, it can be a national or local cause. The employee contribution is them matched by the employer.

Emma explains: “We launched Payroll Giving in 2015, it was a way to allow our guys to support a charity of their choice. The scheme has been a success with so many of our team using it. It’s a great scheme, as the company matches your contribution doubling the final amount”

For 2021, the employees contributed a total of £6,000 and the company matched it, increasing the final amount to £12,000.

Payroll Giving 2021

Ian Hewitt, Head of Consulting at Bouygues Energies & Services explains why he has chosen to be a part of Payroll Giving:

“I contribute to the Prostate Cancer UK charity through just giving, which is collected monthly from my Salary. I have decided to do this to help stop men dying from prostate cancer by improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support.”

We all have different causes that strike a chord with us. Maybe what a charity does means more to you due to your own personal experiences, or perhaps you just feel very strongly about those they are helping.

Ian chose to give to prostate cancer as he had an invested interest, he added: “I have a personal interest in this as my father was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and thankfully through treatment recovered.”

Ian, is one of many employees who has chosen to a part of Payroll Giving and for their efforts the company has recently been awarded with a Gold status by Charitable Giving, this is awarded to employers that achieve 10% or more employee participation in Payroll Giving.

The National Payroll Giving Excellence Awards are a Government supported payroll giving quality mark, that recognises when an employer offers exceptional schemes.
