Bouygues Energies & Services, in partnership with Hilti, are hosting an event to create awareness with the risks associated using power tools for the annual World Day for Safety and Health.
World Day for Safety and Health at Work is celebrated annually on 28th April to promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases. It is an awareness-raising campaign intended to focus international attention on the magnitude of the problem and on how promoting and creating a safety and health culture can help reduce the number of work-related deaths and injuries.
Last year, HSE recorded an estimated 78,000 work-related ill health cases (new or longstanding), with 53% being musculoskeletal disorders in the construction industry. There are various causes of musculoskeletal disorders and one of these is working with hand-held power tools for a long time.
In support of World Day for Safety and Health at Work Bouygues Energies & Services are hosting a health and safety session on their data centre site in Wales to raise awareness on the risks associated with power tools. With the support of Hilti, they will educate employees and suppliers on the long-term and short-term side effects using power tools covering HAVs, DUST and NOISE.

“The event is to raise awareness and educate people about some key occupational health risks in construction, Working with industry-leading supplier Hilti, we are showcasing some of the latest tool technology and innovation, which can not only improve efficiencies but drastically reduce exposure risk to dust, noise, and HAV`s.
The impacts on occupational health can sometimes be overlooked in the design and planning stages so at Bouygues Energies & Services we are bringing together our client, supply chain and employees to support World Day for Safety and Health at Work.”
