National Inclusion Week – FIR Ambassadors Continue to Support Change to Foster a Diverse and Inclusive Workplace at Bouygues E&S

National Inclusion Week celebrates inclusion and promotes action to create inclusive workplaces. The 2022 theme ‘Time to Act: The Power is Now’ provides all of us with the opportunity to reflect on our progress towards a more inclusive world, and the next actions we must take in our journey.

At Bouygues Energies and Services (Bouygues E&S), our people are our most valuable asset. We have long recognised that we must protect and empower every member of our teams so that skills, knowledge, and opportunities are accessible to all. Indeed, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment is a core pillar in our ‘Together Further’ business strategy.

At the heart of turning our corporate vision into an everyday reality lies our employee-led Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) networks. Through raising awareness and facilitating important conversations, these groups are vital to creating a community in which everybody feels welcome and flourishes.

This National Inclusion Week, Bouygues E&S are particularly proud of its overarching D&I Champions Network, which embodies the week’s spirit of acting to embed and celebrate an inclusive culture continuously. To achieve this, our trained Fairness, Inclusion, and Respect (FIR) Ambassadors help teams engage with our dedicated networks, challenge behaviours and positively impact workplace culture.

David Murphy, a Supervising Engineer at Bouygues E&S, who recently became an FIR Ambassador, said:

I’m very pleased to have completed my FIR training. My ongoing education will help me promote the FIR ethos, which is very much aligned with our company values. Fundamentally, as an FIR Ambassador, working collaboratively, taking action challenging behaviours where needed, inspiring others and supporting change are key commitments, which will help me promote equality, diversity, and inclusion to create a stronger workplace!”

Although Bouygues E&S held its last FIR training session of the year recently, we were pleased to add 27 more names to the ranks of our D&I champions. The training impresses the importance of acceptance in the face of discrimination, a goal to be shared with as many people as possible, something Amna Din, Business Administrator, recognised:

“How we treat each other is a reflection of ourselves. It’s like a ripple effect: it starts with one act of kindness, empathy, or praise, and carries through to the next person. I want to inspire and be inspired; that is why I greatly appreciate my D&I journey with Bouygues E&S.”

Diana Ciobotaru, Regional Digital Transformation Lead, concluded:

"We all have the right to feel comfortable being our authentic selves in the workplace and we hope that our ambassadors can help to ensure that is the case for all of us. I'm happy to welcome the new cohort to our D&I Champions Network and look forward to seeing how they will assist in influencing our teams to work even more dynamically and collaboratively going forward."

Cultivating a diverse and inclusive working environment is one of Bouygues E&S’ core commitments, which we will continue to uphold now and in the future.
