For many of us, we spend more time in the office/work than we do in our own homes. So, it's important to have a nice comfortable environment where we can be ourselves. . Having an enjoyable working environment can make a huge difference to mental and physical health.

To help improve the wellbeing of their employees Bouygues Energies & Services have created a social area that features a pool table, table tennis, foosball, cycling bike desk, and a prayer room in their Manchester office. An enjoyable environment enhances emotional wellbeing and physical activities.

"In the report by Jerome M. Adams, he says “Healthy and happy employees have a better quality of life, a lower risk of disease and injury, increased work productivity, and a greater likelihood of contributing to their communities than employees with poorer well-being." 

“The office refurbishment adds to our overall wellbeing package. We have several wellbeing initiatives in place, and we’re always looking at adding and making improvements. Employees wellbeing is important to us. , Investing in their wellbeing can benefit both us and them and can lead to increased resilience, better employee engagement, reduced sickness absence, higher performance/productivity, and overall to improve their quality of life,” said Emma Gould, HR Director at Bouygues Energies & Services.

Refurbishment

In 2020 Bouygues Energies & Services had phase one of their office refurbishment, which consisted of their office area renovation and transformation into an agile, vibrant and bright environment. Now, they have completed phase two, creating a meeting and social area from an unused part of their office, designed to support their wellbeing initiative.

The newly refurbished office has several exciting elements for the Bouygues Energies & Services team to enjoy.

Phase two of the office refurbishment has several elements for the employees to get excited about -. starting with a nice bright open space offering modern meeting areas, soundproof booths, desk bikes, and standing desks. Furthermore, behind a glass partition, a recreational area provides an escape that features a pool table, foosball table, and table tennis area all complimented with zen sofas and seating areas. 

“We believe the new wellbeing area gives our employees a space to recharge and relax. We have created an open space environment, where they can have a break, socialise, and recharge and overall ensure they’re looking after their physical and mental wellbeing,” added Emma Gould, HR Director at Bouygues Energies & Services.

Ahsan Zafar, Process Engineer at Bouygues Energies & Services, explains what the wellbeing area means to him: “This works hand-in-hand with our wellbeing and mindfulness working policies by providing a calm, safe space where all are welcome next to our dynamic and fast-paced working environment.”

In addition, as a diverse and inclusive employer, they have added a quiet prayer room to accompany their newly installed washing facilities. 

“I think it’s great that the Bouygues Energies & Services management team has invested in a multi-faith prayer room and wash area as this provides a dedicated space where we can come individually or collectively to reflect and take a break,” said Ahsan.
