We are thrilled to have achieved the SFMI Platinum award - the highest accreditation available - for the second year running.

The SFMI is the only sustainability benchmark for the UK FM sector and judges the environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance of FM service providers annually.  The awards are run by sustainability consultancy Acclaro Advisory whose judges conduct independent assessments across 23 criteria as part of the awards process, including sustainability frameworks, management systems, social value, energy, water, compliance, health & safety, employee development, diversity and more. The SFMI grades the organisations assessed each year, awarding the top performers with a silver, gold or platinum certificate.

Emmanuel Chautemps, Executive Director at Bouygues E&S said,

‘We’re delighted to have been awarded SFMI Platinum award for the second year, recognising Bouygues E&S as a leader in sustainability across the FM industry.’

We have partnered with SFMI since 2015 and with their support we connect ideas from different areas and levels of the business to drive sustainability. By meticulously focusing on best practices of environmental, social and governance, we have become increasingly more involved in activities such as employee development and stakeholder engagement. We have developed a learning and development programme for knowledge sharing, including a mandatory carbon module to drive sustainability within the business. We also collaborate with universities to promote diversity in the workplace and enable innovation on shared practice.

We originally joined the SFMI as we wanted to adopt a corporate philosophy which aligns with sustainability. We recognised the need for both the climate and the company to change the way things are done, looking to embed sustainability and increase transparency and accountability throughout the organisation. We recognise the overall need for a holistic sustainability approach whilst acknowledging the positive impact it has on our reputation and all stakeholders.

This development in our approach has led to new projects which differentiate us from our competitors. We have been able to benchmark ourselves directly to competitors and measure best practise. This has encouraged continuous improvement and highlights market trends which should be taken into consideration when planning a sustainability strategy.

We are planning to work with our sister companies to further develop our social value and integrate into our core business and contracts. In addition, we plan to expand on the cross-fertilization across all different areas of our business.
