We are thrilled to have received a platinum award in sustainable facilities management at this year’s Sustainable Facilities Management Index (SFMI) E-Awards. Now in its eighth year, the SFMI is the only sustainability benchmark for the UK FM sector and judges the environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance of FM service providers annually.  We received the platinum award for our achievements in embedding sustainability culture in the business from the Board level and through the company.

The SFMI Awards are run by sustainability consultancy Acclaro Advisory whose judges conduct independent assessments across 23 criteria as part of the awards process, including sustainability frameworks, management systems, social value, energy, water, compliance, health & safety, employee development, diversity and more. The SFMI grades the organisations assessed each year, awarding the top performers with a platinum, gold or silver certificate.

Chris Havers, programme director of the SFMI for Acclaro Advisory, said:

“We would like to congratulate Bouygues Energies & Services as one of our four platinum certificate recipients. It has been an incredibly difficult year for the FM sector and this achievement is testament to the growing commitment to sustainable FM within the organisation.

“In 2020, we have seen the FM industry’s status grow. FM has navigated organisations in the public and private sector through the pandemic and is now playing a pivotal role in designing post-pandemic workplaces. Service providers have an opportunity to truly establish themselves as progressive, responsible businesses that can work in partnership with customers to transform their sustainable outcomes. Their aim should be to create new business models that incorporate a sustainable business culture, sustainably led technology solutions and a fully trained and engaged workforce.

“The pandemic, together with climate change, rising economic inequality, and a growing social justice movement, represents the perfect storm for FM to establish its position as a change agent.”

Emmanuel Chautemps, Executive Director for Bouygues Energies & Services said:

“We are incredibly proud to have received a platinum award and would like to say a huge thank you to the teamwork and dedication from our staff across the business in helping us to achieve it. Their combined efforts to embed sustainability culture throughout the business has encompassed the implementation of energy-saving and carbon-reduction solutions, extensive volunteering programmes for local communities and a great deal of work to promote the importance of health and safety, mental wellbeing and employee development.

“Now more than ever, we have a critical role to play in engaging our staff with sustainable practices and behaviours, working in partnership with our clients and supply chain to maximise our impact. Supporting our Group’s ambitious climate strategy to drive environmental change, this award is a great reflection of our continued commitment to sustainability in FM.”
